June Newsletter

From the Library Learning Commons

As we wind down for the summer, Library books are due Friday, June 8th. If a student cannot return their book, they will be expected to pay for a replacement.

Free E-books and Audiobooks Our E-book and audiobook collection on Overdrive is continually growing. Students can access at Students can login using their computer login code/library card number (eg. 12345BER) and their birthdate (MMDDYYYY) as their password. If students don’t know their login, they can ask Ms. Zettler or their teacher. Books can then be read on your computer, or downloaded to your E-reader, tablet, or phone with the Overdrive app from your App Store.

New Mascot

The St. Aloysius Gator is retiring! We are looking for new ideas for a mascot, logo and name of our teams in September. If you have an idea for a new mascot, please send it to school with your child who will give it to Mrs. Schuett. For example, if your idea was our current logo, you would suggest the “St. Aloysius Gators” and your idea for a logo would be an alligator wearing a shirt with the letter A on it, and use the colours green and maroon. Feel free to draw a quick picture so that we can have a good understanding of your logo and mascot. Get those creative juices flowing. Good luck!

Please remember that colour yearbooks are being sold through School Cash Online and you can get yours for only $10.00! The orders need to be placed by June 7th. It’s a wonderful way to remember the school year.

World Cup of Soccer

World Cup of Soccer is a long-standing tradition at St. Aloysius School. Once again the students will be placed on teams representing countries from around the world. Each team will play a round-robin style tournament and the championship game will be played on June 25th.

Mission Day at St. Aloysius School

Friday June 22nd from 12:45-3:00pm we will be having our annual Mission Day. Funds raised will be going towards the school and the WE charity. We are looking for donations of gently used items such as toys, books, games, stuffed animals or any kind of item you think kids would enjoy. We are also in need of face paint, nail polish and small items for prizes. Please send in any items as soon as possible. This is a great time to clean out your toy rooms and donate to a great cause.

Students will have the opportunity to visit classrooms to participate in a variety of activities (e.g. nail salon, face painting, free throw, white elephant sale…) Activity costs will range between 1-8 tickets.

Students can purchase tickets the week of the June 11-20th on schoolcashonline. Tickets are $0.25 each or 25 for $5

Multicultural Celebration

Mark your calendar! This year our Multicultural Celebration will be held on June 12th from 5:30- 7:00. We are planning this exciting event and we would love for you to join us in this celebration. We will have a BBQ as well as face painting booths and performances from both the students and the community. We look forward to seeing you soon!
